In the summer, Emma had a strange breakout around her mouth. It started out looking like a cold sore. Then it spread around her most of her mouth. The night before school started, I noticed it was much worse, and it had been lingering for a while. So I called the next morning to get her an appointment for after school. Ever since that day, her pediatrician and dermatologist have been trying so hard to figure out what's going on with her skin. At first we were told it was a fever blister, so they treated her for that. It kind of cleared up, but soon came back. They thought it might be a zinc deficiency. Then we were told it was impetigo. The medicine didn't really work that time, and she (very quickly) developed a staph infection. Poor baby. They cultured it to see if it was MRSA, and fortunately it wasn't. She was also double-swabbed to check for strep, and both tests came back negative. We are so thankful that the new antibiotic completely cleared the infection. The dermatologist was finally able to come to the conclusion that she has developed eczema. Who would've thought?! She's almost four years old, and out of the blue, there's eczema. Huh. Anyway, she was totally psyched to return to school, and she picked out a super cute outfit to wear. She's missed about one to two days just about every week, and she was really missing her friends and teachers, and learning. This little girl LOVES to learn! Here she is, adorable as always :)
